Grinnell College Summerfest

In addition, the QCBF hosted a dance workshop earlier in the day that was led by their Director, Ray Terronez Jr. and assisted by the Older Group students.  The attendees were given the opportunity to learn basic techniques as well as dance steps and choreography for El Jarabe Tapatio, The Mexican Hat Dance.  The QCBF were pleased to see the number of participants who were engaged to learn about a different culture. By the end of the workshop, we had three survivors who learned the entire song and were able to perform the dance with QCBF students in front of a small crowd.  Overall, the QCBF had a blast visiting Grinnell College and being a part of their Summerfest.   They very much appreciated all the hospitality and the extreme kindness shown by all the volunteers.

June 26th 2018 - The Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico were fortunate to be invited to the Grinnell College Summerfest, which was held on June 9th.  They took a few dancers from the Small, Middle, and Older Groups to entertain the welcoming, diverse crowd for an hour.  The students performed dances from Sinaloa, Norte, Michoacan Tierra Caliente, Guerrero, and Jalisco.  Despite a lot of performers not being available to go, the QCBF were still able to put on a great show for the Summerfest spectators.
